Shuttlecock and Badmington Racket

Answers to All Your Inquiries

Each session costs £5 and must be pre-booked via the Spond app.

We have 5 courts per 2-hour session and attendance is capped at 36 players.

We are trialling different systems for picking courts and plan to have this finalised in November 2022.

We use Yonex AS20 feathered shuttles.

UPDATE 07/11/2022:

The club is currently closed to new players. We have a large membership and our sessions are over-subscribed. We are operating a waiting list for the club, and if you'd like to be informed when we re-open then please complete this form.

We are a social Badminton club which offers a safe space for LGBT+ individuals to enjoy the sport whilst making new friends.

We are open to anyone regardless of badminton ability, sexual orientation, gender, race or religion.

We are a mixed-ability club and focus on doubles badminton. All players are welcome, no matter if you are new to the game, play at the highest level, or like most of us are somewhere in between.

We hold monthly coaching sessions and the dates will be announced on Spond. We also hold in-house tournaments several times a year - this is a great way to play competitive games and win medals in a friendly atmosphere.

Once you have attended 3 sessions, if you wish to continue playing then you’ll need to become a member of
the club.
This costs £25 per year and will affiliate you with Badminton England, as well as provide insurance, enable you to join the Swifts members page and group chat on Facebook, as well as attend the social events.

Sessions are available to book two weeks in advance. They all sell out quickly, but there is a waiting list process, and many of these players often get spaces, so don' be disheartened, and keep an eye on the app.

Players should bring their own racquet. If you don't yet have one, then racquets are available at our sessions: please send us a message in advance if you require this. Shuttlecocks are provided at all of our sessions.

All players are required to wear appropriate sports kit, including shoes with non-marking soles.

If you have booked a session and are unable to attend, please use the 'message hosts' button on the Spond event. If we have more than 24 hours notice, then you will get a free credit for a future session. If under 24 hours, we do our very best to fill the space, and you then get a credit. Please refrain from booking and then no-showing, as it will deprive someone on the waiting list from joining.

We currently hold our sessions at Kingsdown Sports Centre on:

  • Thursdays 8 - 10pm

  • Sundays 4 - 6pm
